Hello, I am Eric, Eric Hunken. I first came to Thailand in 2018 on a vacation from my home town of Vancouver, Canada. My original lo plan was to travel to Montreal and possibly, New York in the U.S. After checking the cost to travel to Montreal by air and the hotel prices, I wasn’t so sure I wanted to go. A friend of mine had just recently returned from Thailand and recommended to me that I travel to Thailand. I did some research, checked prices, looked at YouTube videos and decided to spend a Month in Thailand. I went to Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin and Chiang Mai. I was not on YouTube yet, but I did make a Facebook page about my month and travel to Thailand in 2018.
I had an awesome time in Thailand and when I returned to Vancouver, I knew I would have to return to Thailand. I had planned to return for vacation in 2019. That did not work out as I tore two ligaments in my foot and leg, falling off a stage while dancing in a night club.
I had plans to return again to Thailand in May of 2020, and those plans got thwarted due to the whole health issue around the world. I know a lot of people traveled to Thailand during these times, but I am very paranoid and did not want to go just yet. I was on the computer every day waiting for the Quarantine in Bangkok, or Phuket was over. and as soon as it was lifted , I booked a one way Ticket to Bangkok. I arrived in Bangkok June 15th, 2022. I took a night train from the Lamphong train station the same evening from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. I spent a whole year living in Chiang Mai. I loved Chiang Mai. I did not get to know anyone there. I found myself spending time almost every day at the Reservoir, at The Chiang Mai University, walking along the moat in Old Town or along the Ping river. It finally clicked in to my old brain that I needed to see water every day. I was used to beaches and rivers from Canada.
So I decided to move, I did some research, almost moved to Phuket, so glad I didn’t now. At the end of June 2022 I moved from Chiang Mai to Hua Hin by air.
I now consider myself living in paradise and have no intentions of ever moving anywhere else and definitely not back home to Canada.
I will update this page, this telling every once in a while to talk about my Journey. This was part one, I guess.
